To support the Jefferson City Police Officers Association (JCPOA) and to ensure the continued support they provide to
several local charities. The JCPOA supports the "Shop with a Cop" program which provides underprivileged children a
chance to purchase Christmas gifts for them and their families. The JCPOA also is active in the Special Olympics and
Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. The main purpose of this race is to raise the awareness of the Police Officers who
have made the ultimate sacrifice. In 2007 six Missouri officers died in the line of duty and the Missouri Law
Enforcement Memorial pays tribute to them. As a way to honor them, the JCPOA donates both time and money for the
upkeep of the Law Enforcement Memorial as a way to keep the memories of those officers alive.
